Heralds of Good News is a Missionary Society of Apostolic Life, started in the Diocese of Eluru, India on 14 October 1984; it became an Institute of Pontifical Right on May 5, 1999. In order to fulfill the pastoral needs of the church world-wide and for better administration as it grows in numbers the Society has five ProvinceThe specific aim of the Society is the promotion of vocations to priesthood, the training of seminarians and the supply of zealous and hardworking missionaries to the dioceses in India and abroad which experience a shortage of priests due to the lack oflocal vocations.

As part of reorganization of the Society, the official inauguration of the Province of Mary Queen of Apostles was held on 11th October 2008 at Heralds of Good News Seminary, Melavalady. There were nearly 50 priests, few religious and lay collaborators for the programme. There was solemn Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by His Grace Most. Rev. Agnelo, our Pontifical Commissary, concelebrated by Rev. Msgr. Peter Francis, the Vicar General of Kumbakonum Diocese, the Provincial team, neighboring priests, religious and our beloved priests who turned out in big numbers.

The first Provincial Assembly was held in August 2008. Rev. Fr. K. Arokiadasswas elected as the first Provincial, and Rev. Fr. M. Ignatius was elected as Vice Provincial, Fr. John Charles, Fr. Thomas Selveraj, Fr. M. Alex Ravindran were elected as councilors, Rev. Fr. Savarinayagam was the Provincial Procurator and Rev. Fr. A. Leo Arockia Raj was the Provincial Secretary.

The third Provincial Assembly was held from 13th August 2014 to 15th August 2014. Rev. Fr. M. Alex Ravindran was elected as the Third Provincial Superior. Fr. L. EnockRajan was elected as vice Provincial, Rev. Fr. Paul Vincent Ravi, Rev. Fr. I. R. S. Joy Ashok, Rev. Fr. A. Charles SavariMuthu were elected as councilors. Rev. Fr. C. Antony Kanaga Raj – Provincial Treasurer and Rev. Fr. A. Britto – Provincial Secretary. This is to bring to your kind attention that our Province of Mary Queen of Apostles (MQA) was bifurcated on 27th April 2017 for the enhancement of the efficient administration and to promote more effectiveness in the field of Evangelization and vocational commitments. Out of 235 Permanent Professed Members, 116 had opted to remain in the same province of MQAP and the rest of them opted to be the members of the New Province ( Divine Mercy Province). All the distribution of the ministry places is done Dioceses wise in India and Abroad in accordance with the Canon 581 and the Constitution of our Society HGN Art. Nos. 137-139.
